thankful on this memorial day…

i wanted to do a post today to say thank you to all of those who have defended me and all of us.  here are the words that flash through my mind when i think of memorial day…war, death, destruction, communism, dictators, iron curtain, pearl harbor…the list goes on.  so many places, people and families who have felt the weight of the evil that flows around us.  i was about to write a sentence that read, “war is not pretty.”  but, then i thought about... Read More

the beauty of my mother…

it’s a hard thing to measure. she comes into a situation and leaves beauty there. she holds beauty inside and it flows out of her smile and her eyes. to be beautiful and leave beauty wherever you go….amazing.  but, even more so, it is inspiring.  i will show you more of her beautiful handiwork in my next post. however, in this one, i wanted to give you the update on her OPEN GARDEN DAY. i was so thankful that some of you were able to come. if you weren’t,... Read More

convicts, dreams and charles martin…

a while ago, i profiled people who inspire me.  one of those people is charles martin.  he dreams.  he writes.  he loves his wife.  he raises his boys to be amazing men.  if you want to read more about why he inspires me, check out the post i did on him. today, i wanted to let y’all in on what is new with him.  he posted a video on his blog and facebook page and i thought you might like to see it.  it reminds us, yet again, to dream, even when it is difficult. ... Read More

i do not recommend this book…

i was excited to read it.  i thought the title was funny and the old timey lettering brought me in.   however, now that i have read it, i am sad to say that i cannot recommend this book. "just do something" by kevin deyoung... normally, i am more susy sunshine than debbie downer in my posts.  but, today, i felt like i needed to share a little bit about why this book and i won’t spend much quality time together.  now, before we get into my opinion on this book,... Read More

i’m in love with dr. nate…

or at least my smile is… about a month ago, my talented friend handed me two boxes and said, “if you like it, blog about it.”  now, being that this was my first time that anyone has ever given me a product about which to blog, i was pretty excited!  however, i thought, “uh. oh. what if i don’t like it?”  i guess, if that had been the case, y’all wouldn’t have ever read this story.  however, that was not the case.  and, i don’t... Read More

a good farewell…

i resigned my  job and took a new position.  i gave them my 30 days and friday, may 13th, was my last day at that job.  it was a good farewell.  i got a cake… i had two great lunches, a farewell gathering and some precious time and words from people for whom i care and respect.  as i walked through the last days at the position, i remembered something that my mom says, “end well.”  my hope and my prayer is that i did.  because in the end, as my dad once... Read More
